This event is part of Wales Week London, held in collaboration with Creative Wales.Award-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming was born in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, in 1948.
Lindy trained as an orthopaedic nurse with an idea of becoming a physiotherapist, but due to an unusual series of coincidences she was offered a place and began to study at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Upon graduation she began working in the costume department in the theatre. During her theatre years she worked on many successful plays with directors Michael Rudman, Mike Leigh, David Hare, Richard Eyre and Alan Ayckbourn.
Lindy's film career has spanned over 40 years across a wide scope of genres, styles and periods.
Lindy designed the costumes for many films including: Four Weddings and a Funeral, Topsy Turvy, Goldeneye through to Casino Royale, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984, Paddington and Paddington 2 and last year’s Wonka.
Aside from her career, Lindy has two children who she is incredibly proud of and all of her Hemming family who still reside in Wales.
