This will be the first time that the 'All Party Parliamentary Group for Wales in the World' will hold an event / presentation open to the public - it has chosen to do so especially for Wales Week - and in partnership with Hybu Cig Cymru / Meat Promotion Wales.
The event will be a panel discussion, featuring representatives of farming and food industry leaders in Wales, looking at how two of Wales’ most iconic exports – Welsh lamb and Welsh beef – can prosper in the post-Brexit era.
Recently, Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) has published exciting new research which shows that Wales produces red meat in a much more sustainable way than many other places around the world.
Welsh farming aims to be a global leader in sustainability, and this will be key to how the brand is promoted.
There are huge opportunities for premium lamb and beef brands, which can evidence high environmental credentials as well as exemplary traceability and quality.
Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef are already recognised in many countries. Trade in lamb to the Middle East, for instance has increased substantially in the past two years, and there is the potential for other markets to open.
The event will focus on strategies to develop these iconic products to build Wales’ global brand as the home of the highest quality produce, farmed in the most sustainable way.
