‘I Have a Dream’: Iorwerth Peate and St. Fagans

This lecture draws on new research by Dr Eurwyn Wiliam, one of his successors at the Welsh Folk Museum at St Fagans, to ask if Iorwerth Peate really was its founder, or was he just a self-propagandist who managed to twist the truth to his own advantage?

Dr. Eurwyn Wiliam was head of St. Fagans and was later Deputy Director General of the National Museum of Wales. An authority on historic buildings and author of many publications including The Welsh Cottage (2010), he has also served as Chairman of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.

This June Gruffydd Memorial Lecture has been organised by the Cymmrodorion and the Montgomeryshire Society
